The base jersey sets the ocean in motion before the first stitch is placed. An all-over geometric pattern of three-dimensional triangular forms — deep royal blue on blue, pressing forward and back like the facets of moving water — covers the full body of the jersey in an architectural print that reads differently depending on the light. It is a fabric that already has something to say. The red trim at the collar and cuffs cuts through the blue with the precision of a flag — the colours of Cabo Verde exact, uncompromised.

On the upper left chest, the Blue Shark arrives. The VOLTA atelier's most ambitious figurative embroidery to date: a full mascot patch worked in thread painting across multiple tones — steel grey, ocean blue, warm beige, deep red at the gum line — depicting the shark in the posture that every Capverdian football supporter recognises: arms crossed, grinning, entirely confident. The level of illustrative detail in this piece is without precedent in the VOLTA catalogue. The fins carry shading. The teeth are individually defined. The eyes have depth. This is not a logo reproduced in thread — it is a character, fully rendered.

At the lower right, the ocean makes its own statement. A hand-embroidered Atlantic wave rises from the hem in cream and powder blue thread — a full breaking curl, worked in the lineage of maritime illustration, with each layer of water articulated in fine parallel curves and the foam crest built up in raised cream stitch. The wave is large enough to read from a distance and precise enough to reward close examination. Between the shark and the wave, the jersey contains a complete visual argument: the animal that dominates the ocean, and the ocean itself.

This hand-embroidered Cape Verde concept jersey is the most technically diverse piece in the VOLTA catalogue — combining thread-painted illustrative embroidery with ukiyo-e inspired wave work on a geometric jacquard base. Each piece requires between 12 and 22 hours of atelier production and is hand-stitched in our Paris and Versailles ateliers.
